Arizonans for Responsible Tourism hosts Super Bowl Preparedness Campaign for Vacation Rent Operators

January 18, 2023

Pregame Prep helps you comply with local vacation rental ordinances. It also promotes responsible renting practices
Glendale, AZ – Last week, Arizonans for Responsible Tourism launched its Pregame Prep campaign. This campaign aims to assist vacation rental operators in Glendale-Phoenix to get ready for Super Bowl LVII as well as the Waste Management Phoenix Open. These are two areas that the five-week series focuses on:
Compliance education about the blitzing of new short-term rental ordinances in Arizona, passed in the wake Arizona’s Senate Bill 1168 was passed last year. This gave some regulatory power back to cities and towns.
Responsible renting and good neighbor habits are important to help managers and hosts educate guests and prevent nuisances.
Linda Curry, president, AZRT, stated that short-term rentals are essential for accommodating the tens to thousands of visitors to Arizona during a major event such as the Super Bowl. “AZRT is taking proactive measures, including education, to ensure compliance state laws and local regulations. We also outline best practices for nuisance prevention within our communities.
AZRT has teamed with Vrbo (a leading travel platform and sponsor for 2022’s Fiesta Bowl at Glendale); GovOS, a short term rental compliance software; Rent Responsibly, a community-building and education platform for short-term rent operators; and GovOS.
The group has created a resource center that includes checklists, guides, and other tools to help prevent nuisances and good neighbors.
They also have a regulatory resource centre with compliance and permit guides for many of the new local ordinances, AZ’s transaction priv tax, and self-check assessments.
AZRT and its partners will also host a series free events, including virtual webinars in select cities and in-person meetups.
Vacation rental managers can access the campaign at AZRTR.org/Join.
Philip Minardi (global director of public affairs at Vrbo), stated that “Arizona is an epicenter of innovation and leadership within the vacation rental industry.” “During this dynamic regulatory and big-event season, it is crucial to continue collaboration between vacation rental stakeholders and government officials as well as community members. Vrbo is delighted to be a part of this multifaceted education campaign to ensure that Arizona’s short-term rental hosts as well as travelers have the resources and tools they need to succeed.
Rent Responsibly CEO David Krauss said, “Rent Responsibly is honored that we partner with AZRT and help Arizona become an exemplary host state for the Super Bowl and other major sporting events.” “The short-term rental community in Arizona is a leader in collaborative solutions that will have a positive impact on other communities.”
Anna Vaughn (Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at GovOS), said that Arizona has given local governments more autonomy to collaborate with communities and businesses. Partnerships like this will improve communication between the owners, government agencies, and the community as governments work to create holistic systems for short-term rentals. We are confident that we can create long-term solutions for short term renting by partnering with AZRT and Rent Responsibly.
