Investopedia explains that one of the benefits of homeownership is knowing that you own a little corner of the globe. You can remodel, paint and decorate your home without needing permission from your landlord. If you make any changes, you may have to reverse them before you leave. If you own your house, you can customize it to your liking. Fannie Mae found that 90% of respondents said “A good place for your family to raise your children” was the top reason to buy a house. What stage of your life you are in is another important factor. U.S. News explains: “For those with young kids, buying a house and putting roots down is a major factor. . . . Stability and predictability is important, no matter what stage of life you are in. Because the only constant in life is change. As life changes, being in a familiar place and not having to worry about moving around regularly can make you and the people you care about feel more secure. You will also feel more connected to your community when you own your home. According to the National Association of Realtors, people who own homes live in them on average for nine years. As time passes, it is natural to build strong relationships and make new friends in the community.
